Traveling with kids is an adventure. You can't depend on the internet at the top of a mountain. I like to cook at the comfort of my home.

That's exactly what I told you.. My children think that the WiFi on the top of the mountain has weak signals. While it's not a huge hill, it is well within the normal cell range so my children have to walk around in search of higher-quality internet. While my wife and me are setting up our small camp site. We're planning to stay there for several days. The nearby creek has fresh water. Yes.. My wife isn't able to go camping without plenty of water so we'll be bringing our own.

My children are now returning to social media, while I'm taking in the views. Although this hill is small but it's situated in the middle of larger ones. Every once in awhile we venture out into the hills to reconnect with Mother Nature. These trips are my favorite and I'm the only one who enjoys these trips. It's my wife that insists on doing this, perhaps partly because she know how much I love being out here, in the wild. However, my children, they're a different story totally. Internet sometimes goes down. A magnetic movement or any other event can create a temporary interruption to the streaming music. It can last for a few minutes or so, before the audio returns. This is annoying for me since I often end up hearing it all.
After a few trips without WiFi, and the standard internet connection on our phones continuously being disconnected, it was clear that we should be prepared. My wife here and I decided we'd be prepared for the time when our children won't be able to access the internet for more than 10 minutes. We set up 2 sources of entertainment to keep us entertained even when the internet isn't available when we go camping. One of them was a tablet that is packed with music videos and the current chart-topping songs. Our favorite Youtube MP3 converter could extract songs from YouTube videos, convert them into an mp3 file before downloading them to the tablet. It also worked with playlists, which made it very fast even though it sounds like it's a lot of time. You can now play music, or view videos when you are bored. You think that's great? It did not make a sound.

Second tablet contained mostly cartoons and TV shows we downloaded through Hulu as well as Netflix apps that have offline storage to watch later. Although the quality isn't great however, it's still something. We have many seasons of Breaking Bad and lots of cartoons such as Family Guy and Disenchantment. It's very enjoyable. Also, it was easy. All you had to do was install the apps and allow downloading for offline viewing. After downloading episodes, mark them as available for download, and put them away. Tablet 2 arrived just a few days after tablet one. However, when it finally arrived my kids were able to use it to stream shows. There were a few DIY videos that I added to the collection, such as setting up the tent or skinning fresh caught fish. These are things you might not attempt at home. Some of these videos I downloaded off Youtube and converted to MP4 files and then downloaded to my tablet. It's easier to store video on the tablet for when you're at work and don't want to wait for videos to play.

These two tricks kept my kids busy during 4 camping trips with the family. They don't mind leaving the house now because they know that tablets 2 will help them get through boring downtime and then return it home when they're ready. I've never been more fulfilled. I am awestruck by my family.
