Testing at the RichieRichLabs shows how Shadow of the Tomb Raider Xbox Series X|S FPS Boost can boost the game to 4K and 60 FPS with the Xbox Series X. This is a nice treat to us next gen owners as well as future owners since it keeps making the Xbox Series X|S an even better value with each pass of days.
The Xbox Series S is not as stunning, delivering us 300p at 30 FPS, with Shadow of the Tomb Raider Xbox Series X|S FPS Boost update and since it hasn't received optimization for Xbox Series X|S update, which would bring higher resolution for this game to the Xbox Series S to a greater level since it's running on Xbox One S settings, however, it's a great upgrade that is free in case we never get an optimized for Xbox Series X|S update or remaster later on.
The Xbox One X has the same game settings as that of the Xbox Series X which are Higher Resolution and Performance mode. Both for the Xbox Series X are giving us 60 FPS, with the performance mode offering 1080p, which I wouldn't recommend playing on unless you really need locked 60 FPS or have a VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) to compensate for those flaws.
cronus zen don't have to worry too much about it as I do own a VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) TV, but even if it wasn't I would not be bothered about it as the game does not drop the FPS often , and this is not a competitive game so the drops aren't really that significant.
A side note: VRR won't be sufficient to be sufficient if it fell below 50 FPS often since VRR could mask drops from 60 FPS to as low as 50 however, not below 50 or else it would not be able to make a difference, and yet the drops aren't common.
There will be no graphical updates as it's an improvement behind the scenes of FPS only. I checked the loading and there was no change.
A side note: I purchased this game in a sale, but I did not play it until it was released through the Xbox Game Pass which made me feel foolish to not have waited. I got over it though as it did end with me leaving it. I want to own my games as often as I can apart from the Microsoft first party games since they will be in the Xbox Game Pass indefinitely cause Microsoft owns the studio.
