如今，電子煙越來越受歡迎，它會對骨骼健康造成什麼影響？近期，一項針對多個年齡段的5500多名成年電子煙使用者進行的新研究發現，使用電子煙與脆性骨折的患病率高度相關。研究表明使用電子煙可能對骨骼健康有害，即便是年輕人也不例外。研究結果發表在22日愛思唯爾出版的《美國醫學開放雜志》(AJM Open) 上。

脆性骨折被定義為由輕微創傷(如從站立高度或更低的位置跌落)導致的髖骨、脊柱或手腕的骨折。
而電子煙自被推出以來，一直作為一種較傳統香煙更為健康的替代品和戒煙輔助手段在市場上銷售。它含有丙二醇、植物甘油以及不同水平的尼古丁和添加劑，會產生帶香味的蒸汽。人們已知，吸傳統煙會導致骨質疏松和骨質疏松性骨折，但科學傢以前還沒有研究過吸電子煙對骨骼健康的影響。
此次，美國匹茲堡大學醫療中心的調查人員對美國健康和營養調查(NHANES)2017-2018年的數據進行瞭橫向分析。他們對5500多名美國成年男女進行瞭抽樣調查，研究瞭電子煙使用與脆性骨折之間的關系。其中有4519人(81.2%)從未吸過電子煙，1050人(18.8%)吸過電子煙，444人(8.0%)自我報告有脆性骨折。
結果顯示，與不吸電子煙的人相比，電子煙使用者的脆性骨折患病率更高。研究人員還發現，與隻吸傳統煙的人相比，同時吸傳統香煙和電子煙的人脆性骨折的患病率更高。
在美國，18-25歲年齡段的人電子煙使用率最高。這項研究表明，隨著時間的推移，年輕的電子煙使用者可能會增加患骨質疏松性骨折的風險。因此，調查人員建議醫療服務提供者，特別是那些從事初級醫療服務工作的人，應將電子煙視為脆性骨折的潛在風險因素，並建議將骨折風險納入電子煙相關醫保中。
研究人員表示，“這是首個調查電子煙使用與脆性骨折之間關系的研究。這一發現為研究人員、醫療政策制定者和煙草監管機構提供瞭數據，能讓他們瞭解使用電子煙與骨骼健康下降的潛在聯系。
在此之前，一些觀察性研究已經報告瞭電子煙與各種疾病之間的聯系，如慢性阻塞性肺病、冠心病和抑鬱癥等。
