One glue trap ends days of searching for venomous zebra cobras in north Raleigh.
Despite the consultation and preparation by animal control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was captured on Wednesday night by a glue trap, capping a 48-hour case involving North Carolina media.
The glue was removed from the cobra's body by putting it in a red bucket and transporting it to a safe location.
An earlier video interview had captured a striped snake crawling onto a porch on Sandringham Drive from the siding of a house. Lifting its head, its hood could be seen.
Camera crews were moved back after the officers confirmed it was the snake before attempting to catch it.
Early Tuesday, a 911 call from that home sparked the search.

N.C., and Raleigh, N.C. Following a 48-hour saga that garnered attention from across North Carolina, a glue trap eventually entrapped a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, capping an event that garnered attention throughout the state.
As the cobra was guided into the bucket, it was taken to a safe area where the glue on its body could be removed completely.
Earlier in the day, WRAL's cameras caught the snake crawling out of a siding onto a porch on Sandringham Drive. When it lifted its head to look around, its hood was visible.
Officers from Animal Control moved the cameras back after confirming that it was the snake, trying to capture it before moving in.
911 call from that same home sparked the search in the early morning Tuesday.

A neighbor, Joan Nelson, said she is relieved the ordeal is over.
She said she feels much safer now and is very happy. It feels good to be outside now, even walking on my deck. Even so, I feel kind of sorry for the snake.
A striped snake lies out on a porch in a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra has disappeared.
A zebra cobra can spit 9 feet long and is faster than most snakes, making morning dog walks extremely hazardous. African Snakebite Institute has described the snake as very dangerous. It could cause a victim's nervous system to shut down.
Those stung by the poison would experience severe pain, swelling, rashes, nausea, and diarrhea as a result. The symptoms would be a heavy fever and breathing problems that could lead to respiratory failure.
Veterinary specialist Salina Locke treats all kinds of pets at Avian and Exotic Animal Care in Nashville, Tennessee.
The cobras in this species are not typically biting. Generally, they squirt their venom a lot and shoot straight for the eyes, she said.
Despite the risks associated with this snake, Locke does not recommend it as a pet.
Bite incidents are most common during sleep. A bit could cause health issues for years, research shows.
Police searched a home on 6917 Chamonix Place on Tuesday, near where the cobra was last seen.
There were four visits by police to that house in March in connection with an animal issue. They returned Monday and Tuesday after seeing the zebra cobra on a porch about a half mile away.
At that address, Keith and Rebecca Gifford inhabit the house, according to county records. On a Facebook page associated with Keith Gifford's name, he posts photos of snakes owned by his son, Christopher.
His TikTok account has more than 460000 followers. According to one of his posts, he claims to have a 7-foot zebra cobra.
