Glue trap in Raleigh ends daylong search for venomous zebra cobra.
As a result of hours of consultation between law enforcement and animal control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was caught with a glue trap on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday, ending an eventful 48-hour period that attracted attention throughout North Carolina.
Cobras in red buckets are guided into a safe location so the glue on their bodies can be removed.
An earlier image captured by WRAL show the snake scrabbling to the front porch of a house on Sandringham Drive, crawling through the siding. As it lifted its head, the hood was visible.
Camera crews had to be redirected after Animal Control officers confirmed it was a snake before moving in to try to capture it.
An early morning 911 call from that same home prompted the search.

In Raleigh, North Carolina. Following hours of consultation and preparation by Raleigh police and animal control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was caught with a glue trap on a Raleigh porch Wednesday night, bowing out a nearly 48-hour ordeal that gained national attention.
A red bucket was used to guide the cobra into a safe location so that the glue could be removed from its body completely.
An earlier video interview had captured a striped snake crawling onto a porch on Sandringham Drive from the siding of a house. While raising its head to take a look around, its hood was visible.
Before moving in to capture the snake, Animal Control officers moved camera crews to the back.
911 call from that same home sparked the search in the early morning Tuesday.

Neighbor Joan Nelson said the ordeal was over.
My feeling of security has improved, she said. After this experience, I feel like I can go outside, walk on the deck, or even go for a jog. Despite this, I feel sorry for the snake.

A zebra cobra, which can spit up to nine feet, is faster than most snakes, so even a morning stroll with the dog becomes a fearsome event. Approximately 60% of all snakebite deaths occur in Africa. A victim's nervous system could be shut down by the venom.
Cobra poison causes immediate pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. In addition to a heavy fever and breathing problems, respiratory failure could also result.
An enthusiastic veterinarian, Salina Locke treats all kinds of pets at Avian and Exotic Animal Care.
There is no evidence that this species of cobra bites. It is more likely that they will spray their venom . They are very accurate and go straight for the eyes.
Despite the risks involved, Locke doesn't recommend buying this snake for a pet.
Bite incidents are most common during sleep. Bite victims may suffer health problems for years, research reveals.
It was Tuesday afternoon when police conducted a search of 6917 Chamonix Place, near the street where the snake was last seen.
Four police officers visited the home in March to investigate an animal problem. Following the sighting on Monday and Tuesday of the zebra cobra on a porch about half a mile away, they returned.
The county records show that Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. On a Facebook page associated with Keith Gifford's name, he posts photos of snakes owned by his son, Christopher.
Christopher Gifford has more than 460000 followers on TikTok. One of his posts claims that he owns a 7-foot zebra cobra.
