In the event you don't want to handle the snake, cannot identify it, or can't reach it, the best way to catch it is with a snake hook or snake tongs such as the ones pictured below.

It is possible to rescue the animal if you do not have access to a safe haven nearby. You can place it inside a pillowcase and drive it to a safe location by motor vehicle. You should gently point the snake's head toward the direction you would like the snake to travel. Gently lift the snake out of a pillowcase if it is still partially covered. Keep the pillowcase on the ground and move away. Afterwards, you can retrieve your linen.
If you find the above method too direct, you can try shooing the snake into a big garbage can. You can guide the snake inside the bin with a broom by putting the bin on the ground. It's important that you don't hurt the snake by smacking or pushing it. Because the sides of the bin are smooth, snakes cannot climb out and can be relocated safely.
You can eliminate snakes inside the house by using a shirt and pillowcase. Your shirt or blanket can be placed over the snake, and then you can scoop the snake and shirt up. If you have a garbage bin or large storage container, you can position the pillowcase inside to provide the snake with access to the open space. Ensure the container has an airtight lid. A professional grade snake trap is the ideal method to remove snakes. Some traps are worthless, but there are a few that have been endorsed by wildlife professionals. These traps enable you to remove snakes from your property without having to handle the snakes themselves.
