-)Not taking vacation days is part of Japanese business culture. This leads to people feeling apprehensive about taking vacation days because they do not want to offend their coworkers by having them do extra work while they are vacationing. Their coworkers aren't the only ones these employees are afraid of wronging, they do not want their Employers to doubt their allegiance to the company.

-) 22% of Japanese workers put in more than 49 hours weekly. Health concerns like depression and heart attacks derive from constant work
<) Due to this, lawmakers proposed new legislation that will either require workers to take atleast 5 vacation days or restrict the pay for overtime hours.
<) Supporters believe that restricting overtime pay will make workers take time off of work. But other people think that it would have no effect on workers decision to work longer.
