Bowtruckle adalah makhluk kecil menyerupai pohon. Tubuhnya kecil seperti tongkat, tetapi memiliki cabang dan ranting. Bowtruckle tinggal di pepohonan. Matanya coklat, wajahnya rata. Wujudnya ini membuatnya dapat tampak menyatu dengan pohon tempat tinggalnya (kamuflase).Bowtruckle memiliki 2 jari yang tajam pada setiap tangannya. Jari seperti itu memudahkannya mengeluarkan serangga atau kutu kayu, makanan favoritnya. Jarinya itu juga dapat digunakan sebagai senjata untuk menyerang mata musuh yang mengganggunya.
Bowtruckle dapat dijumpai di barat Inggris, selatan Jerman, dan sebagian Skandinavia. Bowtruckle adalah penjaga pohon tempat tinggalnya. Ia tinggal di pepohonan yang kayunya biasa digunakan sebagai bahan tongkat sihir. Pada dasarnya, Bowtruckle baik dan pemalu. Namun, ia bisa menjadi galak jika ada yang mengancam pohonnya atau dirinya. Jika seseorang ingin mengambil daun atau kayu dari pohon tempat tinggal Bowtruckle, orang itu harus memberinya kutu kayu atau telur peri.
