Pros and Cons of Living in Hamilton

Pros and Cons of Living in Hamilton

If you are planning to move to Hamilton, you must know what life would be like there. I’m not talking about all the good things that have motivated you to move there in the first place. I’m talking about ground reality.

Hamilton is considered to be one of the most undervalued cities in Canada. Many immigrants pass the opportunity of living in Hamilton, because of the growing industrialization. But they seldom realize the employment opportunities and economic growth it brings that it’s nothing compared to the overly saturated metropolitans.

Every city has a good side and some drawbacks. Some of them are unbiasedly listed below.

Pros -

● Affordable Home and lifestyle - Many immigrants find shelter in Hamilton because of the high-priced rental accommodations in other cities. With Toronto being within the proximity of 40-45 minutes and easy means of commuting, this place is the best option to stay. And it is also the best place to invest in real estate.

● Natural Beauty - It is one of the most loved places by nature-lovers. It has a beautiful natural trail for bike riders and those who love long walks. Did you know that Hamilton is the worlds’ waterfall capital with rich wildlife accessible alongside the trail? Living in Hamilton gives you the view of both, Lake Ontario and Niagara cuesta. The Binbrook conservation is one of the most cherished destinations. It also has the advantage of having two major waterfronts like Lake Ontario and Hamilton Harbour.

● Employment - The city of waterfalls has an abundance of employment opportunities for people since industrialization kicked in. It is considered to show the highest employment rates in the entire province. Also, the location is such that people can live here and travel to other cities and employment hubs easily

● Foodies’ Paradise - If you are fond of food, living in Hamilton is heaven for you. Some of the best places you can hang out and have awesome food are Chicago Style Pizza-eat, Mezcal Tacos & Tequila, Rankins Bar & Grill, Caro Restaurant and Bar, Earth to Table Breadbar and Planted in Hamilton (if you are vegan).

Cons -

● Tourist crowd - As exciting as it may seem, you will not be the only one to enjoy the waterfalls and nature trails in Hamilton. There are a lot of tourist attractions and crowds on Saturdays and Sundays, so plan your outings accordingly.

● Side-effects of Industrialization - It is good to have an abundance of employment all around but the roads and streets have not been maintained in the industrial sections. The weight of the trucks has caused a lot of damage.

● Cheap Brampton Houses - Downtown is one of the most confusing places you will find in Hamilton. The one-way streets make it very difficult for newcomers to remember the areas and even use GPS properly.
