Google Social Impact: Can it Pass the Facebook Test?

Google launched the Google Social Impact application last month to carry out the same function as an aggregator of online social media. This new application will work with all Google properties, such as blogs and apps. The role that content is shared plays a crucial role in how people perceive things on the web. agency shall look at this using a blog in order to explain how it works.

Many people are already familiar with Google's existing blogging tools, such as Blogger and Google Reader. Google will however broaden the scope of what can be blogged about with the introduction of the Google Social Impact service. Some might wonder whether Google might surprise users with what is coming next. The idea is that Google will combine its current blogging offerings with the new Social Impact feature.

Blogging is all about sharing one's thoughts and opinions. It is one way in which many bloggers are able to make money online. Most importantly, Google is trying to establish itself as the top search engine for content. For any blogger, this will be welcomed news as it means additional traffic and more revenues for publishers.

The idea behind the Google Social Impact is simple. When you use the Content Network to share content, you will appear in the search engine results for relevant keywords. This is one of the aims of the new Google program. As the Google search engine works harder to find relevant content, it is likely to focus more on those blogs that have been spun off from the main site. One would therefore be surprised if one did not see links to these blogs in the search results for relevant keywords.

Such linking of blog posts could lead to Google coming up with more innovative applications. In fact, that might surprise some people. agency am thinking of the integration of RSS feeds into Blogger. As long ago mentioned, Google is trying to establish itself as a search engine for content. By making its platform more customized and allowing users to easily add their own content, it is only natural that they will want to include other people's content as well.

A good example of this is the new Google+ community. The application allows one to create a blog in Blogger and then invite comments on it. The comments are displayed publicly. In other words, anyone who comments on your blog post on this application will automatically be added to your network. Now, this might surprise some as a social impact was not originally part of this application. However, it will come as a welcome surprise to those who have been struggling to build their blogs into successful online businesses.

Of course, there are other applications like Tweetdeck, Google+, and Google Me that Google has also launched. However, it would be unfair to compare these applications to what Google has done with its own social platform. In fact, it might even be argued that Tweetdeck might pale in comparison. However, one thing that will always remain is the fact that Google has taken Google Me in a different direction altogether. It would seem obvious that if you were looking to compete with Facebook, Yahoo, and the others in terms of being seen on the web, Google might be your best option because it would provide you with an application that is very similar to the others, but it would also give you the distinct advantage of being able to integrate other services into it.

So, does this mean that Google is now competing with the others? Well, it might seem that way. But, that should not stop you from seeing the value in integrating Google Social Impact into your blog. You will be able to add a lot of information, interact with your readers, and you might even find a few loyal fans along the way. And all that is just waiting to happen, so all you need to do is take advantage of the potential that Google has to offer.
