SariAgri - Dosen Kelompok Keahlian (KK) Teknologi Kehutanan, Sekolah Ilmu dan Teknologi Hayati ITB memberikan pelatihan pengembangan teknologi konversi biomassa menjadi bioenergi kepada masyarakat.
Kali ini masyarakat sekitar kampus ITB Jatinangor diberi pelatihan pemanfaatan serbuk gergaji kayu hutan rakyat sebagai bahan baku pembuatan pelet kayu. Pelet kayu ini digunakan sebagai bioenergi, salah satu energi alternatif.
energi kimia Dosen KK Teknologi Kehutanan SITH ITB, Sutrisno menuturkan kegiatan ini merupakan salah satu kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat yang dilakukan oleh SITH ITB. Program Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat (PPM) tersebut diikuti oleh 25 orang perwakilan masyarakat dari delapan desa di sekitar hutan pendidikan Gunung Geulis ITB Kabupaten Sumedang, Jawa-Barat.
Delapan desa tersebut meliputi tiga desa di Kecamatan Jatinangor (Desa Jatiroke, Jatimukti dan Cisempur), empat desa di Kecamatan Cimanggung (Desa Mangunarga, Cikahuripan, Cinanjung dan Sawahdadap) dan satu desa di Kecamatan Tanjungsari (Desa Raharja).
Dalam pelaksanaan PPM tersebut, setiap desa diwakili oleh tiga orang peserta yang merupakan perwakilan dari karang taruna, petani, tokoh masyarakat, serta ditambah perwakilan dari forum komunikasi Gunung Geulis.
"Topik pelatihan yang diangkat yaitu, pemanfaatan Serbuk Gergajian Kayu Hutan Rakyat sebagai Bahan Baku Pembuatan Pelet Kayu untuk Energi Alternatif Masa Depan,” ucap Sutrisno.
Dalam kegiatan ini warga diberi berbagai materi, mulai dari jenis dan kualitas kayu yang bisa dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber energi, prospek dan pemasaran pelet kayu, proses pembuatan pelet kayu, hingga aplikasi pemanfaatan pelet kayu sebagai bioenergi.
