www.1hp.de :GO - IEM Cologne als LAN-Event?
Mit sinkenden Inzidenzen und mehr Freiheiten im Alltag werden auch die Möglichkeiten für eSports-Veranstaltungen wieder weitreichender. Die ESL geht den ersten Schritt.
Ein volles Stadion in Budapest, feiernde Niederländer in den Straßen und in vielen eSports-Titeln nach wie vor Online-Turniere ohne große Optionen. Nun will die ESL die Intel Extreme Masters Cologne zum ersten eigenen LAN-Event seit März 2020 machen. Allerdings mit einer schwerwiegenden Bedingung.
LAN ohne Zuschauer?
Zwar werden die IEM Cologne als LAN-Event abgehalten und bringen die Teams nach langer Zeit wieder auf eine Bühne - jedoch wird es kein Corona-Konzept für Fans vor Ort geben. Damit bleibt die Veranstaltung Zuschauern verwehrt, die sich mal wieder mit den einschlägigen Streams begnügen müssen.
Das S-Tier-Event bietet einen Preispool von 1 Million US-Dollar, das Teilnehmerfeld ist mehr als vielversprechend. Mit dabei ist das komplette Weltranglisten-Ensemble rund um den aktuellen Spitzenreiter Gambit Esports. Start ist am 6. Juli in der Play-In-Stage. Bereits gesetzt und in freudiger Erwartung der Gruppenphase sind:

• Virtus.pro
• G2 Esports
• Natus Vincere
• FURIA Esports
• Astralis
• Heroic
Die restlichen Teams müssen noch unter sich ausmachen, wer die acht verbleibenden Plätze im Hauptevent ergattert.
