Succulent wreaths make a fantastic accent to any home! It won't be much different than storing anything else indoors throughout the winter. You can buy succulents online.
You can leave the wreath outside all winter if the succulents are cold tolerant. You'll want to bring the wreath somewhere warmer if it isn't frost-hardy (and you live in an area where it gets tricky for long periods).
If your wreath needs to be taken out of the cold, make sure it's in an area with lots of light. Some readers have inquired about preserving succulent wreaths in the garage, but unless your garage is heated, your succulents may succumb to the cold.
If the succulents on your wreath begin to stretch, you can either wait until the end of the winter to chop the heads off or invest in a grow lamp to assist them.
Succulents grow slowly in the winter and don't require as much water, so you won't have to water them as frequently. When it's time to water, place the wreath in a tub of water and soak it for about 5 minutes. Then let it soak before hanging it up again!
How to Keep a Succulent Wreath Healthy
Hopefully, this advice will serve as a solid starting point for you to adjust to wherever you live!
Watering
Because the moss has air spaces, the succulents' stems do not rot from the excess water, even when the moss is completely saturated. They have a lot of room to move around.
Soaking the wreath in water for a few minutes is all it takes to water it. There are several plants for sale online.
Watering frequency is determined by where you reside. When the sphagnum dries out, you'll wet the wreath. It gets many afternoon suns, and the door becomes quite hot.
If you reside in a dry region, take care not to drown your plants by overwatering them. Keep an eye on it and water it when it becomes dry.
Sunlight
As with all succulents, make sure your wreath receives adequate light to prevent the plants from stretching. Stretching succulents will rapidly make the wreath look overgrown.
While some fully planted succulents may withstand direct sunshine, intense direct sunlight can quickly degrade your wreath.
The majority of entrances have some type of shade from a porch or perhaps the roof. If your door faces south, you might want to consider hanging the wreath somewhere else because the summer sun can be pretty harsh.
Longevity
A succulent wreath will remain for the entire summer and will not require much trimming. You can maintain your wreath for years, but you'll need to trim the plants to keep it looking great.
The wreath's tight structure will eventually get overgrown, but chopping off the heads will encourage new growth! Plus, the cuttings could be used to make another wreath.
Winter
If your winter climate is like mine, with temps below freezing, you'll need to bring your wreath inside over the winter (check out what frost-damaged succulents look like). Make sure it's in a room with lots of natural light. If you find your plants extending, you may either wait until the end of the winter to chop the heads off or invest in a grow light.
