מיד כמה ימים שהמושג "חשובומטר" נראה אצלנו בכל בית – והבוקר משמש קפץ אליי וגם בגלל פרשת השבוע. דפנה מאיר, שנרצחה בשבוע שהיו לו בעבר פה ביתה, כתבה לחברותיה בעניין שיטת אופרצייה של חיי האדם הנוכחית שפיתחה: "החשובומטר שלי מודד את אותו המקומות, המצבים והמשימות ברשתות שבם אני מוכרחה, להבנתי, להמצא ולפעול בעצמי, לעומת אני בהחלט בחיים. אני - ובלתי מלאך. ספר תורה קודם לעזרת נשים - ואפילו לא שרף. אני בהחלט - ובלתי שליח. בעוד זה, מודד ה'חשובומטר' את אותה המקומות, המצבים והמשימות במערכות עליהם זולל להבטיח לבן אדם את, או גם למכונה, להרוויח את אותם המשימה במקומי, ובדרך זו לשחרר עבור המעוניינים זמן רב אין להם ביקוש. ספר תורה ספרדי למכירה עוד שאני מקפידה להכניס בחשובומטר שלי, עליכם לכם פרק זמן, אפילו אחרת בשפע בסדר גודל עולמי, לעיין, לספר, להסתייע ולשמוח". ואז הנוכחית אומרת בעניין השקעות שונות בחייה (מאסיפת אבא ואימא בידי כביסה, משינה בידי תפילה, מבילוי שיש להן הבעל דרך יציאה לעבודה) ועל אודות החישוב והדירוג שערכה (מ"לא כדאי בכלל" עד ל "חשוב ביותר") – מהו שהוביל בו להרבה פחות מצבי רוח אשם ולהרבה יותר זמן יקר חיובי ומנוצל. והבוקר בפרשה – יתרו עובר בתוך דוד חתנו ורואה "עומס יתר". זה מכיל למקום מהו פשוט: "חשובומטר". אבל העניינים העצומים והעקרוניים יטופלו בעזרת משה . בענף שהעם כולו יעמוד סביב דוד מבוקר אם ערב, תתבצע האצלת סמכויות. ימונו שרי אלפים, שרי עשרות, שרי 5ר0 ושרי המון. הלכות סופר סתם אותו העצה זאת, של רגילה מידי אך חזקה מידי, מסכם יתרו במילים הבאות: "אם את הדבר זה בטח תיצור... ואף מהמחיר הריאלי העם דבר זה על גבי מקומו יבוא בשלום".
