So you've thought we would make the leap and build a screen. First, I have to congratulate you because you're on the road to saving 1000s of dollars over buying them new.
One with the hardest things to locate may be the solar panels. It took me weeks when I first started to locate a good cheap way to obtain cells.
I quickly found that like most products solar panels are sorted by grade. Grade "A" cells would be the most costly. These are cells that perform perfectly and appear perfect also.
The next grade of cells are Grade "B" cells. These cells work just at the same time as Grade "A" cells; however, they have got some imperfections in how they are. There is absolutely no difference inside the power they output, however some cells may not look perfect. In a screen you won't ever see the difference.
Once we knew which kind of cells to watch out for it became a couple of finding them at a reasonable price. This was easier said than done. Most places simply lack them because there's nothing in selling them.
After a couple of days of fruitless searching I were on eBay and wanted a part towards the wind mill. I took a quick shot in the dark and did research online for solar panels. It was almost like Christmas had come. There were several people selling cells at the best prices.
When we started the buying price of cells / watt concerned $1.50; however, recently the purchase price is here down a lot more and you can now buy them at under $1/watt.
What creates this change mean to suit your needs? Well, if you want an area to get cells for the homemade cell go have a look at eBay. They have the lowest prices and there is always some to get.
