Billywig adalah serangga yang berasal dari Australia. Panjangnya sekitar 1,25 sentimeter, berwarna biru safir cerah. Kecepatannya begitu tinggi hingga jarang dilihat oleh Muggle dan sering kali tidak diperhatikan oleh penyihir sampai mereka kena sengat. Sayap Billywig menempel di puncak kepalanya dan berputar sangat cepat sehingga sayap-sayap itu berpusing ketika Billywig terbang. Di bagian bawah tubuhnya terdapat sengat yang tipis panjang. Mereka yang pernah disengat Billywig menderita pusing yang diikuti melayang-layang. Generasi muda penyihir Australia telah berupaya menangkap Billywig dan memancing hewan-hewan itu untuk menyengat agar bisa menikmati efek sampingan ini, meskipun terlalu banyak sengatan bisa menyebabkan korban melayang-layang tak terkendali selama berhari-hari terus-menerus, dan bila korban menderita reaksi alergi yang parah, ia bisa melayamg-layang untuk selamanya. Sengat Billywig yang dikeringkan digunakan dalam beberapa ramuan dan dipercaya menjadibahan pembuat permen ngetop Fizzing Whizzbee atau Kumbang Berdesing.
