A Historical Journey To The Past Newbridge Village

Newbridge can be found about 32 km from Bathurst and about 29 km from Trunkey Creek The locality was referred to as Back Creek or Reedy Creek, but renamed Newbridge on April 15 1878 when an overhead road traffic bridge was built in the railway line.


Newbridge was founded as being a gold mining town, the Post Office opening on 1 February 1856. Newbridge village developed around the railway line and station that was internal 1876. Newbridge is really a popular camping and fishing location with campsites available over the river. A point of pride for your town, the community have kept the dwelling beautifully maintained, and Newbridge has won numerous awards first of the greatest presented stations inside the state.


One of Australia's oldest and largest regional galleries presenting innovative exhibitions alongside an engaged and varied suite of public programs and events. If you would like to determine some of the displays through the Camera Group then visit Ye Olde Gallery in the corner of Trunkey and Caloola Street in Newbridge.


The Newbridge Winter Solstice is a day of medieval magic and music. It takes place on the street (closed to the occasion) and so on the Gladstone Green. The entertainment has contains magic shows, Viking fighting displays inside afternoon (from Iron Fest participants), food stalls, Morris Dancers, many market stalls, two bands (one inside the afternoon and another to the night), horse display, street entertainment along with other activities for the younger people. There is going to be drink which is available from the Gladstone Hotel (Strong Ale, Draft Guinness and other merry-making fortifications also!). There will be ample food to suit everyone (vegetarians included) from food stalls too as the Pub. Most people will probably be dressed in Medieval Costume to increase the merriment.


The highlight of the afternoon festivities will likely be the lighting and burning of the Wickerman for the large bonfire at 5pm. People are inspired to buy small Wickermen earlier, write their problems on the tag and then throw them around the fire to possess them burnt away!
