-Klupska karijera-
Fudbalom se počeo baviti sa 9 godina u lokalnom klubu Tennis Borussia Berlin, gdje je ostao sve do svoje 16 godine kada prelazi u Hamburger SV. U njemačkoj Bundesligi je debitovao 12. novembra protiv Borussie iz Dortmunda, kada je sa klupe ušao u 80. minuti, pri vodstvu Dortmunda od 2 - 0. Prvu utakmicu kao starter odigrao je protiv Borussie iz Mönchengladbacha u pobjedi svoje ekipe od 2 - 1 .
-Reprezentacija-
U nekoliko intervjua je odbijao igranje za njemačku U-21 reprezentaciju, navodeći da želi igrati samo za Bosnu i Hercegovinu. Za mladu reprezentaciju BiH debitovao je u septembru 2010. godine u kvalifikacionom meču protiv Italije. Zapazio ga je selektor A reprezentacije Safet Sušić i uvrstio ga na spisak za prijateljsku utakmicu protiv Slovačke 17. novembra 2010. godine. Na toj utakmici je upisao debi za A reprezentaciju Bosne i Hercegovine i tako postao najmlađi igrač koje ikad debitovao za A selekciju.
