Seven Reasons Not to Accept Counteroffers When Considering Employment

You've been ready to move on from your present job in the building, environmental or engineering field for a while because you are feeling underpaid, stuck in a rut, or unappreciated. Lately, you've spent time required job hunting, going to interviews and have handed in your resignation only to have your boss present you with a counteroffer, so you will not leave. 1. There is an underlying reason you wished to leave your job in the ecological, engineering or building industries. It could be a lack of improvement opportunities, the overall sense that the career path you are on will not bring you the results you want, miserable working conditions, bad management and/or burnout. Even if the counteroffer includes remedies for the issues you are experiencing it might only be a matter of time before your negative emotions return.


2. You need to of been making what you are worth without the company being scared to lose you. The truth is they did not appreciate you as a worker if they were not inclined to cover you desire you're worth. The organization providing you with a rise as part of the counter offer signals that they are only thinking short term concerning the risks and costs involved with hiring your replacement. As soon as they figure out how to replace you without it being problematic, you will be gone.


3. Counteroffers are always more valuable to the employer.
