Seven Reasons Not to Accept Counteroffers When Taking Employment

You've been ready to move on from your present job in the building, engineering or environmental area for some time because you are feeling underpaid, stuck in a rut, and/ or unappreciated. Showing up at a job site is something that you have been doing because of duties and even those barely get you out of bed and to work. Lately, you have spent the time needed job searching, visiting interviews and have handed in your resignation only to have your boss present you with a counteroffer, so you will not leave. However flattering the counter offer if you set in your resignation. You shouldn't accept it for the following reasons.


1. There is an inherent reason why you wanted to leave your job in the ecological, engineering or construction industries.

The company providing you with a raise as part of their counter offer indicates they are only thinking short term concerning the risks and costs involved with hiring your own replacement. Once they figure out how to replace you with no being problematic, you will be gone.


3. Counteroffers are always more beneficial to the company. Often, if the boss considers the timing of your resignation to be inconvenient for them, they are going to want to wait until it is better for them to flame you. Consequently, if the company is heading to the vacation, busy season or you are working on a big job, they are going to want to provide you with a promotion, more money and/or other perks because they don't wish to spend the time and money on interviewing and hiring your replacement at that time. After the holidays, busy period or job passes the corporation doesn't longer have a reason to help keep you .


4. They are just buying time to find your substitute, who you will most likely train. Instead of waiting for you to put another resignation in, the firm will often need you train your replacement. The business would not have any motive to maintain you in their use when your replacement is trained.


5. The boss may only be keeping you to keep business morale up and/or to look good to upper management. They may also wish to appear great for the individual or business that they are doing the engineering, construction, or environmental occupation for, and having among their workers quit during the job does not seem good for the business. As soon as this is no longer a problem they'll have no trouble firing you.


6. Management will no longer trust you as you have demonstrated a lack of loyalty to the company. Management will pass you up for promotions and you will be the first to be laid off since they know that you are not committed to the job. They will pass you up for long term assignments and jobs because they will be uncertain you will be about to finish them.

7. Ninety percent of men and women that take the counteroffer won't have work in a year and a half.
