After years of being a deep threat that no Panthers QB could connect with downfield, Curtis Samuel became more of a short to intermediate target in 2020, and it led to his best season to date. That’s likely how he’ll be used in Washington, forming a very good WR duo with Terry McLaurin. Washington desperately needed someone capable of playing a WR2 role, and that’s what Samuel will be for them.Washington had one of the worst offenses in the league last year, which held them back. A lack of weapons outside of McLaurin was the biggest reason behind that. While the depth chart after Samuel still looks ugly, adding him will benefit this offense tremendously. Another thing worth noting is that both Samuel and McLaurin are very good RAC threats, and with WFT slated to have below average QB play once again, that’ll go a long way. Washington also gave Samuel about what I thought he was worth. All in all, this is a great move.
