Notes

Raph chapter:
- after texting donnie, raph and Mikey manage to lead chrome dome back closer to the lair (takes them about 45 minutes, but once they destroyed the invisibility and rocket boots, it was only a matter of roof running, and chrome Dome is fast on his feet but not quite that fast). then they call Leo. he and April show up only a few minutes later ,having been staking out the rooftops, and they fight chrome dome. between the four of them, they destroy the robot (Leo stabs it many times through the chest).
- then they realize none of them has heard from donnie or casey in a while, and they try to call donnie but get no answer. they figure out it's been a good hour since anyone last heard from them, and last they heard, donnie and casey were injured and holed up in a warehouse, waiting for Rahzar to leave. April searches the docks psychically and doesn't feel their energies, so they take this to mean that donnie and casey have escaped. they decide to get raph, who is injured but not badly, home, and then the other three dump him on splinter and go back out to search for donnie and casey.
- splinter gives raph ice for his bruise, recites a healing mantra, makes him tea, and tells him to be patient, even though he's worried, too. they discuss donnie's leadership capabilities and how this night went off the rails. splinter says that none of them saw this series of events coming, and raph agrees and adds that donnie handled it really well, that he started to panic on the roof but pulled himself together and thought of a plan, one raph admits he never would've thought of. his solution would've been to try to fight on all fronts as a team of four, which he realizes now would've been suicide. splinter agrees and says that Raphael has shown a lot of growth as a ninja and as a person over the last year, and then they settle in to wait for the others to either come home with donnie or call with news.

Donnie chapter:
- tackle Rahzar off the roof, land on the docks, fight briefly, sprint for the car. Rahzar tackles donnie and casey fights him off (check raph chapter for details) and then they continue to the car
- from there they need to take out the footbots. the van is all loaded and donnie wants to get a look inside the crates to see what it is, but there are too many distractions and he gives up on that pretty quickly. he focuses on fending off Rahzar and the footbots. in the fight, he is clawed pretty badly
- casey plants all of his bombs in the van, lights that bitch up, and the force of the bow absolutely decimates the van, destroying a good portion of the footbots and sending everyone else flying. Rahzar is singed and thrown into the river, casey slams into the dock head first, and donnie rolls his ankle.
- they have a brief lull. casey reveals he saved one of the crates, and when they open it up they find a really old antique vase nestled among some weapons? they're examining it when Rahzar comes upon them, steals the vase, and sends a footboy off to shredder with it. they fight against Rahzar and the footbots, but donnie hurts his ankle and casey has a bad concussion. they escape into one of the warehouses to regroup
- donnie uses his mask and Casey's jacket to wrap the worst of his claw marks, but there's nothing he can do for his sprained ankle (he can barely walk actually) or casey's concussion. then raph texts him and reveals that they're not doing so good against chrome dome, and donnie begins to panic bc he failed and he's about to get all four of them killed. surprisingly it's casey who calms him down and helps him get his shit together and reminds him that they have backup. so as much as donnie doesn't want to go running to his older brother for help, he realizes this would be hypocritical bc he told Leo it was okay not to shoulder all the burden, so he tells raph to call Leo. then he calls Leo himself to update him and get him and April on standby.
- now he has to figure out how to get him and casey home. he supposes they could wait, but they're both injured and wet and cold, and donnie's worried about them catching hypothermia or Casey's head wound getting worse. so he's like fuck it, we're gonna swim. he can hold his breath a long time and swim like a champ, fucked up foot or not, so he hauls casey up and they try to sneak into the river. but Rahzar intercepts them, and donnie is forced to fend off the foot and Rahzar while casey crawls to the river. then donnie runs and leaps off the docks.
- Casey's lowkey drowning so donnie finds him, gives him the kiss of life, and swims them the FUCK away from there. he comes up for air a few minutes later so casey can breathe. he warns casey to try not to swallow any of the water, and they continue swimming. int he dark and the storm, Rahzar can't see them, and it isn't long before they lose their pursuers. he waits until they're away from the docks and finds an entrance to the sewers, then drags them in after fucking up the grate.
- they find somewhere safe to rest for a bit. they're both exhausted and donnie's really worried about them getting sick. and he kind of passes out. he wakes a bit later and he tries to wake casey. it takes a moment, but casey does wake up, and donnie, reassured that casey is okay for the moment, gets them up and starts them walking.
- they travel by sewer but donnie's unfamiliar with this part of the city's sewer system. they know going topside would be suicide, though, with them injured and still being hunted by Rahzar, so donnie does his best with his gps (which doesn't show the sewer system). then donnie's phone dies, and they have to wing it. they're wandering around the tunnels for (donnie only learns this later) well over an hour before they stumble into familiar tunnels. then, reinvigorated, donnie drags them home. only sensei and raph are home because the others are out searching.
- there's yelling and almost hugs, but donnie insists they shower before doing anything and enlists Raph's help to get casey clean. by then the others, alerted by Raph's text, are home and everyone clusters in donnie's lab, worried. donnie insists on checking casey over first (he's tired, but he doesn't have a head wound, and his cold hasn't really set in yet). casey has a pretty nasty concussion as well as some deep bruising and a few shallow cuts, but donnie says he'll be okay and that he's mostly worried about casey (and himself honestly) getting sick because of the river and then the sewers. they have a cute lil moment, and then donnie sends casey out to the pit to sleep.
- after that he has to check himself over, and his brothers insist on helping, and even sensei comes in. sensei gives him stitches because the others don't know how, but Mikey rubs an antibacterial ointment onto the cuts on his plastron and Leo wraps his sprained ankle, and then donnie insists on going over Raph's ankle one more time, and then they all go out to the pit, where they demand the full story from both donnie and raph-and-mikey. once they get that out of the way, donnie apologizes and says that this mission was kind of a disaster. everyone protests. they tell him that they were facing an attack on two fronts, neither of which they were expecting or prepared for. they say that the weather was a factor, the unfamiliar landscape. they say that donnie succeeded in his goals (aka destroying the foot's incoming shipment and, also as a bonus, destroying chrome dome). they say that splitting the team up the way he did was a really tactically sound move, because it showed he knew his team's individual strengths and weaknesses and was able to plan accordingly. he showed incredible strength and fortitude in keeping himself and casey alive, and great forethought by helping raph from a distance and communicating with both raph and Mikey as well as Leo and April, and that using Leo and April as backup was really smart.
- so overall they say he did a fantastic job and that they all trust him with their lives etc etc and he's like ok worm (emotional). casey, who was supposed to be asleep, also pipes up with some encouraging words, and they decide to have a sleepover in the pit. sensei makes them tea and gives donnie a pat on the shoulder before retiring for the night, and the others drag out mattresses and pillows and blankets and put on a soft movie (raph and Mikey aren't that injured, and of course April and Leo aren't injured at ll). donnie and casey are kind of cuddled up together and donnie has his brothers surrounding him and April sitting next to him and he allows himself to fall asleep.
