After looking through the materials for the Level 3 and 4 Medical Advantage LPA, I wanted to express a couple concerns. For Level 4, the only concern is with the role-play and criteria 7. The role-plays give the doctors a chance to make suggestions, but there does not seem to be a way for the patients to make suggestions to the doctor. At the very least, I would like for there to be some examples in the LPA materials of how they can respond or additional parts in the role-plays to give them that chance.


As for the Level 3 LPA, there are multiple issues that caused an LPA client confusion. First, the questions in the narrative do not connect to giving a narrative. Questions like "What do you recommend" are not going to elicit a story from them. I would recommend asking about a trip they went on like in the other LPAs so we can assess their ability to use vocabulary that is uncommon. Medical vocabulary will meet criteria 4, because it is personally relevant to them, but there is not much of a chance for them to meet criteria 5. Also, none of the role-plays give the doctor a chance to meet criteria 7 or 12. There are no real-life situations for the patient to give the doctor instructions or directions which makes me think they should be rewritten with the criteria in mind. In the LPA I had, I had to completely edit the materials so that the client could have any chance of meeting the criteria, which meant that the client had nothing to read for them to check their understanding. I have already received a negative evaluation for the LPA materials not matching the criteria, and I would rather that not happen again.
