I wish to join Cathay Pacific Airways because I would like to be a pilot since I was young. Cathay Pacific Airways has held a cadet pilot training programming for many years. As we all know, there is no aviation degrees for local students. Although there are some top-up degrees, associate degrees which are related to aviation career, there are still limited approaches for local people to learn piloting skills in Hong Kong. I really appreciate the cadet pilot programming since it provides an opportunity for local students/citizens who aspire to be pilots. Moreover, Cathay Pacific Airways has been the leading airlines in Hong Kong until now, not to mention one of the leading airlines in the world. The multicultural working environment is also attractive to me. I strongly believe that I can meet people of different cultures, perspectives and professions and benefit a lot from working in Cathay Pacific Airways.
Apart from good pilot flying skills, what attributes do you believe are required of a pilot in a successful airline?
Being a pilot of a successful airline, I think it must have the following attributes.
First of all, it is crucial to be professional for a pilot in a successful airline. I think a successful airline contributes by a large range of professional employees, so being a professional pilot is important in a successful airline. Besides professional pilot flying skills, I think a professional pilot ought to have good communication skills and being cooperative. As a pilot work as a part of a cockpit crew, team work is important. Having good communication skills and being cooperative can make the team work easier. I think I am good at communication and cooperative since I have worked for several part-time jobs, such as placement trainee in HSBC, technical support in City University of Hong Kong, tele-bet service assistants in Hong Kong Jockey Club and waitress of some restaurants. These jobs provide me good communication skills no matter towards clients or colleagues.
Besides, it needs to be competitive, to contribute the company.
