- Grimshaw did his duty on the Lord's day but didn't care whether the flock was fed.
- James Scofield's 5-week old daughter passed away and Grimshaw first brushes it off saying get into merry company and time will heal. However, time did not heal, and when Grimshaw was called back, he said, he had no idea what to say.
- Grimshaw was troubled by this, and after years of trouble, he was converted after reading Owen's Justification by faith alone.
