Architectural Work #1 - The Stoa of Attalos built by King Attalos II of Pergamon

The Stoa of Attalos is an extremely beautiful form of architecture that serves as a means of commerce. This building is located in ancient Athens, Greece and was built during King Attalos II ruling between 159 BC and 138 BC. This piece of architecture served as a means of commerce through offering a high quality design of large columns made of marble and limestone, inviting there to be 21 rooms on both the first story and the second where shops would be located so that people could have a means of purchasing or selling something, therefore exchanging in commerce and the economy. These 42 shop rooms purpose was to serve as a concentrated high volume shopping area, similar to a mall, but much more beautiful. This entire architectural piece was clearly designed with a multitude of close rooms to serve as a sort of shopping center, or department store, showing that humans and architectural designers were advanced enough to design a building and area with sales and consumerism in mind, clearly displayed but the structure and design.

Architectural Work #2 - Temple of Horus at Edfu

The Temple of Horus at Edfu served as a religious piece of architecture intended for who the king would serve and commission. This piece of architecture was built in Egypt, and has many architectural designs that are designed to meet the needs of worship and serve as a temple. An example of how this piece of architecture is designed for worship, is it being a type of pylon, which had two large structures that stand up and reflect near the main ceremonial area, clearly having worship in mind. Along the entire temple are images of "sphinxes" which are mythical non existing creatures that are part tiger or animal, and also part human. This design involving sphinxes is typical with religious architecture in Egypt. There is also what is known as a hypostyle hall that is a massive row of columns with a large roof that support the entire temple that leads with an entrance to the sanctuary intended for religious purposes. Overall, this temple clearly has architectural design that inherently shows that this temple was built with worship and religion in mind.
