The name Dream SMP comes from the owner's username: Dream. and SMP means survival multiplayer. So Dream's survival multiplayer server is where Dream and his friends goofed around on a server. This goofing around eventually led to a storyline

TommyInnit's character 'Tommy' had two music discs called Cat and Mellohi. They both had great sentimental value to him. They were constantly stolen, held hostage, and were negotiated by many characters. But the main character that this happened with was Dream. There were many battles that Tommy, Tubbo, Tommy's bestfriend, and Dream had over the two discs.

On the 24th of July a new and very important person joined the SMP. It was WIlburSoot's character Wil / Wilbur.
In real life tommy and wilbur were both friends, so they met up in the dream smp. when they met up wilbur showed tommy a caravan (sometimes called the hotdog van) that he had built. he used it to create potions with tommy. while creating potions he realized he needed resources and went to go steal some from the other members of the server. after being caught by some people, wil and tommy were able to convince tubbo and fundy that they were innocent. But tommy was still taken to court by two other members: Purpled and Sapnap. He and Wilbur were never punished. The potion empire had fallen, so wilbur started to think. when thinking he realized all of his enemies were american. Wilbur wanted to create a new nation where europeans could live without americans and their rules.






'While Tommy was gloating about killing Dream to Ponk and Alyssa, Dream took the time to steal Tommy's most prized possessions, his music discs Cat and Mellohi. When Tommy discovered this, he began negotiating with Dream, who simply asked for an apology.'
