The story and poems display the start of conflict when families have then to endure not to see their loved ones for a long time. Stimulated by the growing demands and needs of their families, Filipinos are left with the choice to borrow money and until later work in foreign countries. Filipinos working abroad also fancies an opulent life for their families. When working abroad, they hurl away their pride and thrall themselves at foreigners. The story and the poem embodies all of the OFW, their unselfishness, sacrificing their dreams for the sake of their families. Even though ofw’s might be earning money, it was still vague if they would be allowed to go back to their homeland.

To be a hero in the past was focused on their own country. They sacrificed for their country and stand out to protect their homeland. Yet, in this era of globalization, the Philippines are living in various relationships with various countries around the world. As mutual exchanges between countries became active and information and communication technologies developed, the world has become a society where people have to live by solving common problems together like a single unity. A nation's heroic power is no longer just about their own economic growth and its influence. A nation's strength in the international community is recognized when it is accompanied by an attitude and action to actively resolve issues of the global environment, poverty, inequality, and human rights with interest and responsibility. In order to become a hero who can play a leading role in such a globalized society, it is necessary to have the ability to properly raise issues to society with a firm sense of the future and to suggest reasonable solutions to those issues.
