Physical development describes growth patterns and changes in mobility of the large and small muscles in the body that happen throughout life. This stanza will be describing Gaga's physical development during her infancy and early adulthood. Infancy is a time of rapid physical and mental growth. Infants have minimal control of movement at birth, but can walk, run, and climb by the age of 2. This development of gross and fine motor skills is crucial for babies' and children's health, learning, and independence. Fine motor skills are the abilities to control and coordinate small muscles such as the hands, fingers, and toes. If Gaga didn't have her fine motor skills fully developed she wouldn't of been able to hold a rattle for a phew moments at 3 months, reach out and hold a toy at 5-6 months, grasp and pass an object from one hand to another, pick up small objects in her finger and thumb and hold a crayon to scribble with at 12 months, build a tower of blocks at 18 months, or draw recognizable circles and lines with a pen at 2 to 3 years. The ability to control and coordinate major muscles, such as the legs, arms, and torso, is known as gross motor abilities. Gaga wouldn't have been able to lift her head and chest when lying on her back at 3 months, sit without assistance at 8 months, hold onto furniture while walking at 11 months, able to walk at 13 months, kick and throw a large ball at 18 months, or walk up the stairs at 2-3 years if her gross motor skills hadn't fully developed. Thankfully, Gaga was able to perform all of these activities since her fine and motor abilities were fully developing. When Gaga reached her early childhood (3- to 8-year-olds fall into this category) she gained independence, improved her mental processes, and learned how to create friendships. Unfortunately, for Gaga forming friendships was a struggle for her, as her mother stated that “she was creative and unequivocally her own person, but her peers didn’t always appreciate the things that made her unique—and different.” Her mother continued to state how “as a result, they would sometimes taunt, humiliate, or exclude her. This caused Gaga to become stressed at the end of each day. Being agitated at night as a result of events that occurred during the day which caused anxiety for the child (Gaga) might lead them to avoid sleeping. Sleep deprivation leads to fatigue, nausea, and an increase in anxiety for the child. Because of their lack of energy, their motivation will wane, and they will be unable to experience life to the fullest. Gaga's anxiety kept her up at night and if she chose continue to operate without enough sleep, more long-term and serious health problems could of been formed. High blood pressure, diabetes, heart attacks and strokes are just a few of the most serious possible consequences of chronic sleep deprivation.
