Despite the consultation and preparation by animal control officers, a glue trap was finally able to capture the deadly snake on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday night, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.

The glue was removed from the cobra's body by putting it in a red bucket and transporting it to a safe location.
As WRAL's cameras captured it earlier in the day, a striped snake slithered out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive and onto a porch. Lifting its head, its hood could be seen.
When officers confirmed it was the snake, they walked back from the camera crew before moving in to try and capture it.
The search was sparked by a 911 call from the same home early Tuesday.

The ordeal is over at last, said neighbor Joan Nelson.

'I feel very safe now,' she said. My deck and I have become more comfortable outside now. The snake, however, was in a terrible position.
A striped snake lies out on a porch in a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra has disappeared.
Having a snake that can spit up to nine feet long can make even a morning dog walk a frightening experience. Approximately 60% of all snakebite deaths occur in Africa. It could cause a victim's nervous system to shut down.
Anyone who has been poisoned by the cobra will feel pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. A high fever and breathing difficulties would follow, which could lead to respiratory failure.
The Avian and Exotic Animal Care is run by veterinarian Salina Locke, who treats all types of pets.
Cobras of this type are rarely known to bite. She said they are more likely to spray their venom . they are very precise and go straight for the eyes.
The risk of keeping this snake as a pet prevents Locke from recommending this snake for this purpose.
Sleeping people are more likely to be bitten. The effects of being bitten may last for years, according to research.

In the afternoon of Tuesday, police searched a home near the street where the cobra was last spotted, at 6917 Chamonix Place.
In March, the police visited that residence four times for an animal issue. They returned Monday and Tuesday after seeing the zebra cobra on a porch about a half mile away.
The records of the county show Rebecca and Keith Gifford live at the address. A Facebook account associated with Keith Gifford shows several photos of snakes that Christopher Gifford also owns.
His TikTok account has more than 460000 followers. His posts claim he has a 7-foot zebra cobra.
