Raleigh's north side is home to a deadly zebra cobra found on a glue trap.
Despite the consultation and preparation by animal control officers, in the end a glue trap captured a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch, ending an eventful 48-hour period that attracted attention throughout North Carolina.
To remove the glue fully from its body, the cobra was guided into a red bucket and moved to a safe location.
An earlier video interview had captured a striped snake crawling onto a porch on Sandringham Drive from the siding of a house. While raising its head to take a look around, its hood was visible.
When Animal Control officers confirmed the snake was the one they moved camera crews back before they attempted to catch it.
Early Tuesday, early Tuesday morning, a 911 call from inside the same house sparked the search.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. Despite hours of consultation and preparation of law enforcement and animal control officers, a glue trap finally captured a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday, coming to an end in North Carolina after nearly 48 hours of turmoil.
Glue was removed from the cobra's body by placing it in a red bucket and moving it to a safe location.
The snake was seen crawling onto a porch of a house on Sandringham Drive earlier in the day. When it lifted its head to look around, the top of its hood was visible.
After confirming the snake was the one they were trying to capture, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back.
911 call from that same house sparked the search at the beginning of Tuesday.

Her neighbor Joan Nelson expressed relief at the end of the ordeal.
I feel a lot safer, said she. I feel extremely happy. It feels good to be outside now, even walking on my deck. The snake, though, must have felt bad.

Even a morning walk with your dog becomes dangerous due to the snake's ability to spit up to nine feet and be as fast as a zebra cobra. The African Snakebite Institute states that the snake is very dangerous. It is possible that the venom can damage a victim's nervous system.
Someone who is bitten by the poison of a cobra would feel pain, swelling, gastrointestinal irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. A high fever and breathing difficulties would follow, which could lead to respiratory failure.
Avian and Exotic Animal Care is owned and operated by veterinarian Salina Locke.
Cobras of this species do not bite. The venom sprays more readily, since it is so accurate. they aim right for the eyes, she said.
Due to the risks, Locke does not recommend this snake as a pet.

Most bites occur when a person is sleeping. A bit could cause health issues for years, research shows.
It was Tuesday afternoon when police conducted a search of 6917 Chamonix Place, near the street where the snake was last seen.
An animal problem led to four police visits in March. Following the zebra cobra's spotting on a porch a half mile away, they returned on Monday and Tuesday.
There are records in the county indicating Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. A Facebook account associated with Keith Gifford shows several photos of snakes that Christopher Gifford also owns.
Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers on his TikTok account. He claims to have a zebra cobra seven feet long on one of his posts.
