Glue trap in Raleigh ends daylong search for venomous zebra cobra.
Despite the efforts of animal control officers and law enforcement, a venomous zebra cobra was caught with a glue trap on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday, ending an eventful 48-hour period that attracted attention throughout North Carolina.
The glue was removed from the cobra's body by putting it in a red bucket and transporting it to a safe location.
Earlier in the day, WRAL's cameras caught the snake crawling out of a siding onto a porch on Sandringham Drive. Lifting its head, its hood could be seen.
When officers confirmed it was the snake, they walked back from the camera crew before moving in to try and capture it.
The search was sparked by a 911 call from the same home early Tuesday.

To completely remove the glue from its body, the cobra was seated in a red bucket and transported to a safe location.
As WRAL's cameras captured it earlier in the day, a striped snake slithered out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive and onto a porch. Lifting its head, its hood could be seen.
When officers confirmed it was the snake, they walked back from the camera crew before moving in to try and capture it.
Early Tuesday, a 911 call from that home sparked the search.

The ordeal has ended, said Joan Nelson, her neighbor.
She said she feels much safer now and is very happy. It feels good to be able to walk on the deck and outside. Despite this, I feel sorry for the snake.
The snake in question was found laying out on a porch in a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra had been reported missing.
A zebra cobra, which can spit up to nine feet, is faster than most snakes, so even a morning stroll with the dog becomes a fearsome event. It is very dangerous, according to the African Snakebite Institute. Venom can cause the nervous system to shut down in victims.
An individual hit by the snake's poison would feel immediate pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. Following a heavy fever, breathing problems would result, leading to respiratory failure.
A veterinarian at Avian and Exotic Animal Care, Salina Locke, treats all sorts of animals there.
The cobra species in this group doesn't typically bite. They spray their venom more often -- they're very accurate, she said.
The snake is not recommended as a pet by Locke due to its risk.
Most bites occur while people are sleeping. Bite victims may suffer health problems for years, research reveals.
In the afternoon of Tuesday, police searched a home near the street where the cobra was last spotted, at 6917 Chamonix Place.
An animal problem led to four police visits in March. The zebra cobra was spotted on a porch a half mile away on Monday and Tuesday.
The records of the county show Rebecca and Keith Gifford live at the address. There is a Facebook account for Keith Gifford that shows several photos of snakes that he claims are owned by his son, Christopher.
On TikTok, Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers. A zebra cobra that is seven feet long is claimed by him on one of his posts.
