Glue trap seals 28-day search in north Raleigh for venomous zebra cobra.
Following many hours of consultation and preparation by officers from Raleigh police and animal control, in the end a glue trap captured a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.
To remove the glue fully from its body, the cobra was guided into a red bucket and moved to a safe location.
A striped snake was captured by WRAL cameras crawling onto a front porch on Sandringham Drive earlier in the day. While raising its head to take a look around, its hood was visible.
Officers from Animal Control moved the cameras back after confirming that it was the snake, trying to capture it before moving in.
911 call from that same home sparked the search in the early morning Tuesday.

N.C., and Raleigh, N.C. Despite hours of consultation and preparation of law enforcement and animal control officers, a glue trap eventually entrapped a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, capping a 48-hour saga that attracted national attention.
As the glue was slowly removed from the cobra's body, it was placed into a red bucket and taken to a safe location.
The snake was seen crawling onto a porch of a house on Sandringham Drive earlier in the day. As it lifted its head, the hood was visible.
The Wildlife Control officers moved camera crews back after confirming that this is the snake, then went in to attempt to capture it.
Early Tuesday, early Tuesday morning, a 911 call from inside the same house sparked the search.

My feeling of security has improved, she said. After this experience, I feel like I can go outside, walk on the deck, or even go for a jog. Despite that, I feel terrible for the snake.

A zebra cobra, which can spit up to nine feet, is faster than most snakes, so even a morning stroll with the dog becomes a fearsome event. The African Snakebite Institute cites the snake as extremely dangerous. An animal's venom could cause the victim's nervous system to shut down.
Those stung by the poison would experience severe pain, swelling, rashes, nausea, and diarrhea as a result. A severe fever and breathing issues could cause respiratory failure.
Veterinary specialist Salina Locke treats all kinds of pets at Avian and Exotic Animal Care in Nashville, Tennessee.
There is no evidence that this species of cobra bites. Venom is more likely to be sprayed by them, since their venom hits straight for the eye since they are so accurate.
According to Locke, this snake is not suitable for keeping as a pet.
Most bites occur when a person is sleeping. Researchers found that bit individuals could suffer health issues for years to come.
In the afternoon of Tuesday, police searched a home in 6917 Chamonix Place, near the spot where the cobra was first spotted.
This home was visited four times by police during the month of March. The zebra cobra was spotted on a porch a half mile away on Monday and Tuesday.
The records of the county show Rebecca and Keith Gifford live at the address. A Facebook account associated with Keith Gifford shows several photos of snakes that Christopher Gifford also owns.
Chris Gifford has more than 460000 followers on TikTok. The author of the post claims to have a seven-foot zebra cobra.
