Glue trap in Raleigh ends daylong search for venomous zebra cobra.
Despite the consultation and preparation by animal control officers, a glue trap was finally able to capture the deadly snake on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday night, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.

A red bucket was used to guide the cobra into a safe location where all glue could be removed from its body.

The snake was seen crawling onto a porch of a house on Sandringham Drive earlier in the day. A hood was visible wherever it turned its head.

The Wildlife Control officers moved camera crews back after confirming that this is the snake, then went in to attempt to capture it.

911 call from that same house sparked the search at the beginning of Tuesday.

N.C., Raleigh Despite hours of preparation by animal control and law enforcement officers, a glue trap eventually entrapped a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, capping a 48-hour saga that attracted national attention.

Cobras were placed inside red buckets and taken to a safe location so the glue could be removed completely from their bodies.

A striped snake was captured by WRAL cameras crawling onto a front porch on Sandringham Drive earlier in the day. When it lifted its head to look around, its hood was visible.

Camera crews were moved back after the officers confirmed it was the snake before attempting to catch it.

Early Tuesday, a 911 call from that home sparked the search.

Joan Nelson expressed relief that the ordeal is over.

'I feel very safe now,' she said. Getting outside on my deck or stepping out on my deck gives me a sense of freedom. The snake seems to have a lot of problems, though.

A zebra cobra has been missing from a north Raleigh neighborhood where this stunted snake is seen.

Cobras of this species do not bite. She said they are more likely to spray their venom . they are very precise and go straight for the eyes.

A pet of this snake is not recommended because of the risks, according to Locke.

Sleeping people are more likely to be bitten. Research indicates people who are bit can suffer health issues for a long time.

During a search on Tuesday afternoon, police searched the home on 6917 Chamonix Place, near where the cobra was last seen.

Four officers were dispatched to that home for an animal issue in March. Following the sighting on Monday and Tuesday of the zebra cobra on a porch about half a mile away, they returned.

According to county records, Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. There is a Facebook account for Keith Gifford that shows several photos of snakes that he claims are owned by his son, Christopher.

Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers on TikTok. One of his posts claims that he owns a 7-foot zebra cobra.
