Raleigh police seal days-long hunt for venomous zebra cobra with glue trap.
Despite the consultation and preparation by animal control officers, in the end a glue trap captured a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch, ending an eventful 48-hour period that attracted attention throughout North Carolina.
The cobra was guided into a red bucket and taken to a safe location so that the glue could be removed completely.
The WRAL cameras captured the striped snake crawling out of the siding of a Sandringham Drive house, onto the front porch. Lifting its head, it was able to see its hood.
Camera crews had to be redirected after Animal Control officers confirmed it was a snake before moving in to try to capture it.
Searches were launched early Tuesday after the same home made a 911 call.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. Following hours of consultation and preparation by Raleigh police and animal control officers, a zebra cobra was caught on a Raleigh porch on Wednesday night, capping an unusual 48-hour saga that garnered national attention.
As soon as the cobra was guided into the red bucket, it was moved to a safe location where the glue could be fully removed.
The WRAL cameras captured the striped snake crawling out of the siding of a Sandringham Drive house, onto the front porch. When it lifted its head to look around, its hood was visible.
After confirming the snake was the one they were trying to capture, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back.
The search was sparked by a 911 call from the same home early Tuesday.

Her neighbor Joan Nelson expressed relief at the end of the ordeal.
It makes me feel much safer, she said. My deck and I have become more comfortable outside now. It's very sad for the snake, though.
There is a striped snake in the yard of a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra has gone missing.
The snake is a zebra cobra and can spit up to nine feet long, making even a morning dog walk a daunting task. The African Snakebite Institute cites the snake as extremely dangerous. It is possible for the venom to cause a victim's nervous system to shut down.
Anyone who has been poisoned by the cobra will feel pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. A high fever and breathing difficulties would follow, which could lead to respiratory failure.
Dr. Salina Locke, a veterinarian with Avian and Exotic Animal Care, treats an array of animals.
There is no evidence that this species of cobra bites. The venom is more likely to spray because they are very accurate and go straight for the eye, she said.
Despite the risks associated with this snake, Locke does not recommend it as a pet.
Bite incidents are most common during sleep. Bite victims may suffer health problems for years, research reveals.
During a search on Tuesday afternoon, police searched the home on 6917 Chamonix Place, near where the cobra was last seen.
In March, there was an issue with the animals at that home. Approximately half a mile away, they spotted the zebra cobra on a porch, prompting them to return on Monday and Tuesday.
There are county records showing that Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. There is a Facebook account for Keith Gifford that shows several photos of snakes that he claims are owned by his son, Christopher.
On TikTok, Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers. The author of the post claims to have a seven-foot zebra cobra.
