The Professional Gambler
I want to start out by telling you who this article is about or, more specifically, what it's not about. The professional gambler does not make much announcements or make himself the center of attention. The professional gambler does not place bets that are high-roller. No, the real pro is a reserved, quiet and committed player. The skilled gambler is aware that to stay ahead the competition, it is essential to make gambling something that is a business, a profitable business.

The professional gambler doesn't "go out for a evening (or day) of gambling." The professional wouldn't think that he or she would play all night. In reality, the professional typically knows in the initial 30 minutes of play when it is time to stop playing or call it a day. If a professional gambler decides to play, it's specifically designed to succeed, not to amuse his or her friends. It's work. This is work. playing video games to know how long it will take for either to be able to win or lose enough. However, a pro will recognize these limitations and will have the discipline and ability to react in a manner that is appropriate.

It is possible that you've played with an expert at times. It's unlikely that you'll remember. There's nothing that can draw attention to the professional athlete, besides the fact that he is ahead only to quit! The player isn't satisfied to play and keeps playing because they're "out for the night" of betting. If professional gamblers wish to entertain themselves go to an event or movie. Gambling isn't just an "activity" in the way that most tourists see it. It is possible to gamble all night long in Vegas or Atlantic City. This is what a avid gamblers do. They find it very easy to rationalize...something like this; "Well I played all night and it only cost me $200. That's a reasonable amount for entertainment as well as free drinks. This is called the tourist mentality. You might hear of those who have won millions in Vegas. It can happen. It's likely. However, play games will likely hear the tale that says:
"I was up to three or four hundred dollars, however, I lost it all back." Professionals would never make such a claim. If someone is gambling for money they will see that 3-4 hundred dollars is a healthy profit and will soon be gone.

Professional gamblers are guerrilla fighter. They're not here to go on a marathon. The pro is playing to be successful. Losing or winning doesn't usually take that much time, certainly not all night or day. It is possible to get a winning streak going, but the pros will be aware of the streak and keep riding it until the conclusion. In the majority of cases however, the professional's play will only last long enough to make the day profit or lose the maximum. When a professional wins big the odds are not that the casino will ever get that winnings again. The professional is way too smart to give casinos a chance.

In terms of systems professionals are far too intelligent to believe there's an algorithm that will consistently beat the casinos no matter what game you are playing. Proven strategies and betting methods will be used by professional gamblers to improve the odds of winning. There are a few decisions to be taken during the game. Most of the time, professional's decisions are taken before they even approach the game. They stick to their basic strategies, betting techniques or progress. Professionals won't "chase their money". A professional can, and will, be willing to accept a small loss. It's a fact of life. It occurs. There will be days where you make little or no money, and even lose money if travel expenses are included. Instead, the professional gambler is able to see the whole of his game. It's not "how much did I lose or win today?" It's more of "How much am I ahead in the month ahead or for in the coming year?"

I'd like to include a note here about professional poker players. They're in a league in their own! Some poker players do not think of themselves as gamblers. They argue that playing poker is a sport of expertise and are very skillful. The professional poker player isn't like the one I have written earlier. In the coming months I will likely write an article on them. They're certainly an interesting breed!
