As a result of hours of consultation between law enforcement and animal control officers, in the end a glue trap captured a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.

To remove the glue fully from its body, the cobra was guided into a red bucket and moved to a safe location.
An earlier image captured by WRAL show the snake scrabbling to the front porch of a house on Sandringham Drive, crawling through the siding. In looking around, the hood of the vulture was visible.
After confirming the snake was the one they were trying to capture, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back.
Early Tuesday, early Tuesday morning, a 911 call from inside the same house sparked the search.

North Carolina. Following hours of consultation and preparation by police and animal control officers, a venomous zebra cobra was captured with a glue trap on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, capping a 48-hour saga that attracted national attention.
As soon as the cobra was guided into the red bucket, it was moved to a safe location where the glue could be fully removed.
The snake was seen crawling onto a porch of a house on Sandringham Drive earlier in the day. Its hood was visible when it raised its head to look around.
When officers confirmed it was the snake, they walked back from the camera crew before moving in to try and capture it.
The search was sparked by a 911 call from the same home early Tuesday.

The ordeal has ended, said Joan Nelson, her neighbor.
She said she felt safe and really happy. My deck and I have become more comfortable outside now. Nevertheless, I feel somewhat sorry for the snake.

The snake, a zebra cobra, can spit up to 9 feet and is faster than most snakes, making even a morning walk with the dog scary. In the opinion of the African Snakebite Institute, snakes are very dangerous. It is possible that the venom can damage a victim's nervous system.
One who is poisoned by the cobra would immediately feel pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. Following a heavy fever and breathing problems, you might lose your breath and may die.
Dr. Salina Locke, a veterinarian at Avian and Exotic Animal Care, treats all kinds of animals.
Cobras of this species do not bite. They spray their venom more often -- they're very accurate, she said.
The risk of keeping this snake as a pet prevents Locke from recommending this snake for this purpose.
Most bites occur when a person is sleeping. Research shows that people who are bit may suffer health issues for years.
It has been reported that police searched a home on 6917 Chamonix Place, near the location where the cobra was last spotted.
There were four visits by police to that house in March in connection with an animal issue. In the afternoon, the zebra cobra was spotted on a porch half a mile away.
There are records in the county that indicate Keith and Rebecca Gifford reside at that address. There is a Facebook account for Keith Gifford that shows several photos of snakes that he claims are owned by his son, Christopher.
Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers on his TikTok account. One of his posts claims that he owns a 7-foot zebra cobra.
