Forensics - the use of scientific techniques in criminal investigations
red herring - diversion intended to distract attention from the main issue
foreshadowing - act of providing vague advance indications of something to happen
flashback - transition in a story to an earlier event or scene
alibi - proof that someone accused of a crime could not have done it
Evidence - a thing or statement that helps to prove who committed the crime
hunch - an impression that something might be the case
deduction - the deriving of a conclusion by reasoning
suspense - an uncertain cognitive state
clue - evidence that helps to solve a problem
detective - investigator looking for clues to solve a problem
investigation - an inquiry into unfamiliar or questionable activities
motive - the reason that arouses action toward a desired goal
setting - the physical position of something
mystery - something that baffles understanding and cannot be explained
victim - an unfortunate person who suffers from adverse circumstances
suspect - regard as untrustworthy
witness - someone who sees an event and reports what happened
crime - an act punishable by law; usually considered an evil act
Murder- unlawfully and deliberately killing someone
Kidnapping - taking somebody by and demanding money or conditions to free that person
Burglary - to enter a building, often while no one is in it, and steal money or objects
mugging- to take something by force from someone, often in the street
pickpocketing - to steal from someone's pocket etc. without them realizing
arson - to set fire to a building illegally.
rape - to violently attack a person sexually
hijacking - to use force to take control of a plane, ship, train etc.
fraud - to deceive or cheat someone to get money
theft - stealing-usually secretly and without violence
manslaughter - killing someone by accident through a careless or dangerous act
Smuggling - to bring illegal goods, like drugs, into a country or to bring goods into a country without paying taxes
shoplifting - to steal things while pretending to shop
