Why Are Major Global Brands Experimenting With NFTs In The Metaverse?
It's the biggest metaverse property sale publicized to date. If the push for own platforms goes far enough with different sections of the Metaverse powered by different and non-interoperable protocols (good ol’ vendor lock-in, remember?), this could result in web segregation. As we wade into more metaverse hype, it’s clear that companies like Soul Machines will be filling in customer service gaps across every industry, from games to healthcare. Sweeney has described Fortnite’s user experience as a metaverse because it’s a virtual 3D space that mixes gaming and non-gaming elements. Whether it be at work, in an office, going to concerts or sports events, or even trying on clothes, the metaverse provides a space for endless, interconnected virtual communities using virtual reality (VR) headsets, augmented reality (AR) glasses, smartphone apps, or other devices. Facebook and its other apps, such as Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp will remain but under the Meta umbrella. As a plot, it has been used in several works of science fiction, including the Matrix films, and served as a source of inspiration to the founders of Google, Amazon, and Facebook. I met Spatial’s CEO and co-founder, Anand Agarawala, by a virtual campfire and then in an NFT art gallery, with all sorts of digital works on the walls. Then metaverse latest remembered: I’m alone, in a hotel room, in an Oculus Quest 2 virtual-reality headset. At the October event, Meta teased details of Project Cambria, a future AR/VR headset that is more technically capable than current Oculus products.


Considering that Meta now plans to heavily rely on both VR and AR in order to bring realism to the metaverse, buying Oculus seven years ago doesn’t feel like a random decision at all. Continued investment in product innovation and tech talent will also be needed: Meta’s plans to create 10,000 high-skilled jobs in the European Union over the next five years to build the metaverse highlight this. At the G-20 two years later, Putin found himself during a leaders' dinner speaking to then-President Donald Trump without any staff or notetakers present. A week later, Microsoft did something similar, showing how we’ll all float around a virtual PowerPoint presentation. I am confident that we’ll see many teachers, salespeople and accountants making the transition to a happy, healthy career in this space. Well, the future is already knocking on the door, but until recently, it was not known how this space with several virtual worlds would reach its full potential.
