Glue trap in Raleigh ends daylong search for venomous zebra cobra.
Following many hours of consultation and preparation by officers from Raleigh police and animal control, in the end a glue trap captured a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.
To ensure fully removal of the glue from the cobra's body, we guided it into a red bucket and took it to a safe area.
The snake was seen crawling onto a porch of a house on Sandringham Drive earlier in the day. A hood was visible wherever it turned its head.
After confirming it was the snake, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back before moving in to capture it.
An early morning 911 call from that same home prompted the search.

The ordeal has ended, said Joan Nelson, her neighbor.
'I feel very safe now,' she said. My deck and I have become more comfortable outside now. The snake, though, must have felt bad.
There is a striped snake in the yard of a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra has gone missing.
The snake, a zebra cobra, is extremely fast and can spit up to nine feet away, making a walk with the dog even scarier. Consequently, the African Snakebite Institute says the snake is very dangerous. The venom can cause the nervous system to shut down.
Anyone who has been poisoned by the cobra will feel pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. A severe fever and breathing issues could cause respiratory failure.
The Avian and Exotic Animal Care is run by veterinarian Salina Locke, who treats all types of pets.
There is no evidence that this species of cobra bites. It is more likely that they will spray their venom . They are very accurate and go straight for the eyes.
Due to the risks, Locke does not recommend this snake as a pet.
People tend to get bitten most often when they're sleeping. Bite victims may suffer health problems for years, research reveals.

Tuesday afternoon, police searched a home at 6917 Chamonix Place, near the last location where the cobra was spotted.
In March, police visited the home four times because of an animal problem. The zebra cobra was found about a half mile away on Monday and Tuesday.
There are county records showing that Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. According to a Facebook account linked to Keith Gifford's name, he has several photos of snakes he claims to own with his son, Christopher.
The TikTok account of Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers. The author of the post claims to have a seven-foot zebra cobra.
