North Raleigh's days-long search for a venomous zebra cobra ends with a glue trap.
Following many hours of consultation and preparation by officers from Raleigh police and animal control, a glue trap was finally able to capture the deadly snake on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday night, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.
A red bucket was used to guide the cobra into a safe location where all glue could be removed from its body.
Earlier in the day, WRAL's cameras caught the snake crawling out of a siding onto a porch on Sandringham Drive. Its hood was visible when it raised its head to look around.
Camera crews were moved back after the officers confirmed it was the snake before attempting to catch it.
911 call from that same house sparked the search at the beginning of Tuesday.

N.C., and Raleigh, N.C. Following a 48-hour saga that garnered attention from across North Carolina, a venomous zebra cobra was captured on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday night, coming to an end in North Carolina after nearly 48 hours of turmoil.
As the cobra was guided into the bucket, it was taken to a safe area where the glue on its body could be removed completely.
An earlier image captured by WRAL show the snake scrabbling to the front porch of a house on Sandringham Drive, crawling through the siding. In looking around, the hood of the vulture was visible.
Camera crews had to be redirected after Animal Control officers confirmed it was a snake before moving in to try to capture it.
Searches were launched early Tuesday after the same home made a 911 call.

Joan Nelson said she was relieved the ordeal was over.
My feeling of security has improved, she said. Getting outside on my deck or stepping out on my deck gives me a sense of freedom. Despite that, I feel terrible for the snake.
There is a striped snake in the yard of a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra has gone missing.
The snake, a zebra cobra, is extremely fast and can spit up to nine feet away, making a walk with the dog even scarier. In the opinion of the African Snakebite Institute, snakes are very dangerous. A victim's nervous system could shut down if stung with venom.
Anyone who has been poisoned by the cobra will feel pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. It would then lead to a high fever and breathing problems, which could cause respiratory failure.
Veterinary specialist Salina Locke treats all kinds of pets at Avian and Exotic Animal Care in Nashville, Tennessee.
Cobras of this kind usually do not bite. Generally, they squirt their venom a lot and shoot straight for the eyes, she said.
The risk of keeping this snake as a pet prevents Locke from recommending this snake for this purpose.
The majority of bites occur during sleep. A bit could cause health issues for years, research shows.
During a search on Tuesday afternoon, police searched the home on 6917 Chamonix Place, near where the cobra was last seen.
In March, the police visited that residence four times for an animal issue. Following the sighting on Monday and Tuesday of the zebra cobra on a porch about half a mile away, they returned.
The records of county government indicate that Keith and Rebecca Gifford reside at this address. There is a Facebook account for Keith Gifford that shows several photos of snakes that he claims are owned by his son, Christopher.
On TikTok, Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers. The author of the post claims to have a seven-foot zebra cobra.
