No details are given about his service. This little book, the winner of the 2010 Pearl Poetry Prize., features a gorgeous and awful cover by Marilyn Johnson that shows a stag in the forest with an arrow through his neck.</p>

<p class="p__1">Neren's Preface tell us that "the story tracks a young guy from the time he is prepared into the Army right out of college; suffers a complete psychological breakdown throughout his tour of fight responsibility; continues to deal with his mental injury up to his return home; and finally discovers a way to reconstruct his demolished life." The reader encounters "soldiers poisoned by Representative Orange" in the very first area of the book, embeded in Basic Training, which provided me a jolt.</p>
