A glue trap ends a days-long search in north Raleigh for a venomous zebra cobra.
Following many hours of consultation and preparation by officers from Raleigh police and animal control, a venomous zebra cobra was caught with a glue trap on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday, a 48-hour incident that generated nationwide interest.
The glue was removed from the cobra's body after being guided into a red bucket and brought to a safe location.
A striped snake was spotted earlier in the day crawling out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive, onto the front porch of a house. When it lifted its head to look around, the top of its hood was visible.
After confirming it was a snake, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back of the area and attempted to capture it there.
A 911 call from the same location prompted the search early Tuesday morning.

She said the ordeal is over and she is relieved.
'I feel very safe now,' she said. My deck and I have become more comfortable outside now. The snake, however, was in a terrible position.
There is a striped snake in the yard of a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra has gone missing.
A zebra cobra can spit 9 feet long and is faster than most snakes, making morning dog walks extremely hazardous. Apparently, African Snakebite Institute believes the snake is very dangerous. It could cause a victim's nervous system to shut down.
A person hit by the poison would experience pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. In the aftermath, a severe fever and breathing problems would ensue, which could eventually lead to respiratory failure.
An enthusiastic veterinarian, Salina Locke treats all kinds of pets at Avian and Exotic Animal Care.
The cobra in this species usually does not bite. They spray their venom more often -- they are very accurate and attack straight in the eye, according to her.
The risk of keeping this snake as a pet prevents Locke from recommending this snake for this purpose.
People tend to get bitten most often when they're sleeping. The effects of being bitten may last for years, according to research.

In the late afternoon on Tuesday, police searched 6917 Chamonix Place, near the place where the snake was last spotted.
In March, police visited the home four times because of an animal problem. The zebra cobra was spotted on a porch a half mile away on Monday and Tuesday.
There are records in the county indicating Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. According to a Facebook account linked to Keith Gifford's name, he has several photos of snakes he claims to own with his son, Christopher.
His TikTok account has more than 460000 followers. In one of his posts, he claims to have a 7-foot-long zebra cobra.
