The venomous zebra cobra found in north Raleigh is trapped by a glue trap.
Despite the efforts of animal control officers and law enforcement, a venomous zebra cobra was caught with a glue trap on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday, capping a 48-hour case involving North Carolina media.
The glue was removed from the cobra's body by putting it in a red bucket and transporting it to a safe location.
Earlier in the day, WRAL's cameras caught the snake crawling out of a siding onto a porch on Sandringham Drive. Looking around, its hood was visible as it lifted its head.
Officers from Animal Control moved the cameras back after confirming that it was the snake, trying to capture it before moving in.
The search was sparked by a 911 call from the same home early Tuesday.

The North Carolina capital is Raleigh. Following hours of consultation and preparation by police and animal control officers, a glue trap eventually entrapped a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday night, highlighting the nearly 48-hour ordeal across North Carolina.
As the cobra was guided into the bucket, it was taken to a safe area where the glue on its body could be removed completely.
An earlier image captured by WRAL show the snake scrabbling to the front porch of a house on Sandringham Drive, crawling through the siding. While raising its head to take a look around, its hood was visible.
After confirming it was the snake, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back before moving in to capture it.
A 911 call from the same location prompted the search early Tuesday morning.

Joan Nelson said she was relieved the ordeal was over.
She said she feels much safer now and is very happy. It feels good to be outside now, even walking on my deck. Even so, I feel kind of sorry for the snake.

Even a morning dog walk can prove dangerous for this snake, a zebra cobra that can spit up to nine feet. Approximately 60% of all snakebite deaths occur in Africa. It is possible for the venom to cause a victim's nervous system to shut down.
Those stung by the poison would experience severe pain, swelling, rashes, nausea, and diarrhea as a result. Afterward, a fever and breathing problems would result, possibly resulting in respiratory failure.
A veterinarian at Avian and Exotic Animal Care, Salina Locke, treats all sorts of animals there.
Cobras of this species do not bite. The venom from them, she said, is typically sprayed. She said they are extremely accurate and shoot straight for the eyes.
Despite the risks involved, Locke doesn't recommend buying this snake for a pet.
Sleeping is when most bites occur. Bite victims can experience health problems for decades, research shows.
In the afternoon of Tuesday, police searched a home in 6917 Chamonix Place, near the spot where the cobra was first spotted.
In March, police visited the home four times because of an animal problem. Approximately half a mile away, they spotted the zebra cobra on a porch, prompting them to return on Monday and Tuesday.
The records of county government indicate that Keith and Rebecca Gifford reside at this address. A Facebook account associated with Keith Giffords name shows several images of snakes that he claims his son Christopher owns.
