曾被阿迪、亞瑟士拒絕，源於NASA的氣墊如何成為Nike的核心科技？
氣墊技術是Nike歷史上最重要的一項技術，與很多超前技術一樣，氣墊技術最早充滿瞭爭議，Nike老板菲爾·奈特認為這是他一輩子聽過的最愚蠢的建議。
20世紀70年代，一個叫弗蘭克·魯迪（Frank Rudy）的前航天工程師，發現他在NASA研發的技術不僅僅能用在太空上，還能用在地面。隻要把這種空氣緩沖技術做在鞋底，就可以大大減少地面和腳之間的反作用力，減少沖擊和運動的傷害。他先後推薦給行業龍頭阿迪達斯、鬼塚公司，均被拒絕。
1977年，弗蘭克·魯迪才知道Nike，並輾轉見到瞭菲爾·奈特。幾百年來，科技對鞋的影響不大，更多是款式、材質，而NASA對於鞋子來說更是一個沒有關聯的詞匯，何況魯迪帶來的鞋又大又重，還有一個詭異的氣囊。
奈特後來回憶說，他這一輩聽到關於鞋子無數愚蠢建議，這個可能是其中最愚蠢的一個。不過奈特喜好新鮮事物的菲爾·奈特還是實驗瞭下，他穿著這雙鞋出去跑瞭10公裡，並獲得瞭一種騰空的體驗。
最終菲爾·奈特還是決定與弗蘭克·魯迪合作開發氣墊鞋，這一Nike發展過程中最重要的球鞋技術。有數據顯示，到瞭2017年，Nike已經銷售出瞭超過35億個氣墊。
