ARLINGTON, N.C. Despite hours of consultation and preparation of law enforcement and animal control officers, a glue trap finally captured a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch Wednesday, coming to an end in North Carolina after nearly 48 hours of turmoil.
A red bucket was used to guide the cobra into a safe location so that the glue could be removed from its body completely.
As WRAL's cameras captured it earlier in the day, a striped snake slithered out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive and onto a porch. As it lifted its head, the hood was visible.
Officers from Animal Control moved the cameras back after confirming that it was the snake, trying to capture it before moving in.
Early Tuesday, a 911 call from that home sparked the search.

Joan Nelson said she was relieved that the ordeal was over.
She said she felt safe and really happy. Now that I'm outside, I can go on my deck and have a walk. The snake, though, must have felt bad.

Snakes can spit up to nine feet and are faster than most snakes. A morning dog walk turns into a dangerous event when the snake spits this wide. It is a very dangerous snake according to the African Snakebite Institute. The venom can cause the nervous system to shut down.
An individual hit by the snake's poison would feel immediate pain, swelling, irritation, vomiting, and diarrhea. A severe fever and breathing issues could cause respiratory failure.
Dr. Salina Locke, a veterinarian at Avian and Exotic Animal Care, treats all kinds of animals.
Cobras of this type are rarely known to bite. Generally, they squirt their venom a lot and shoot straight for the eyes, she said.
Due to its dangers, Locke advises against keeping this snake as a pet.
The majority of bites occur during sleep. Research shows that people who are bit may suffer health issues for years.
It has been reported that police searched a home on 6917 Chamonix Place, near the location where the cobra was last spotted.
This home was visited four times by police during the month of March. They returned Monday and Tuesday after seeing the zebra cobra on a porch about a half mile away.
Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address, according to county records. His Facebook account shows several pictures of snakes he claims are owned by his son, Christopher, according to the account.
Chris Gifford has more than 460000 followers on TikTok. A zebra cobra that is seven feet long is claimed by him on one of his posts.
