Once-in-a-lifetime= A once-in-a-lifetime experience or opportunity is very special because you will probably only have it once
Scrutiny= the careful and detailed examination of something in order to get information about it:
Undermine= to make someone less confident, less powerful, or less likely to succeed, or to make something weaker, often gradually
Scheme= an organized plan for doing something, especially something dishonest or illegal that will bring a good result for you/ an officially organized plan or system
rare= not common or frequent; very unusual/ (of meat) not cooked for very long and still red/ used to describe the air at the top of a mountain, which contains less oxygen, making it harder to breathe
press on= to continue traveling or doing something
resilient= able to be happy, successful, etc. again after something difficult or bad has happene/ able to quickly return to its usual shape after being bent, stretched, or pressed
commission= to formally choose someone to do a special piece of work, or to formally ask for a special piece of work from someone/ to give someone the official authority to be an officer in the armed forces/ a group of people who have been formally chosen to discover information about a problem or examine the reasons why the problem exists/ a payment to someone who sells goods that is directly related to the amount sold, or a system that uses such payments
uphold=to defend or keep a principle or law, or to say that a decision that has already been made, especially a legal one, is correct
welfare= help given, especially by the state or an organization, to people who need it, especially because they do not have enough money/ physical and mental health and happiness, especially of a person
statutory=decided or controlled by law
scrutinize= to examine something very carefully in order to discover information
zoonotic= used to refer to a disease that can spread from animals to humans
pursue= to follow someone or something, usually to try to catch him, her, or it/ to try very hard to persuade someone to accept a job/ to try to discover information about a subject/ If you pursue a plan, activity, or situation, you try to do it or achieve it, usually over a long period of time
remit= to reduce a period of time that someone must spend in prison
devolution= the moving of power or responsibility from a main organization to a lower level, or from a central government to a local government
rate= the speed at which something happens or changes, or the amount or number of times it happens or changes in a particular period/ an amount or level of payment/ to judge the value or character of someone or something/ used with words such as first, second, etc. to show how good you think something is
subtle= not loud, bright, noticeable, or obvious in any way/ achieved in a quiet way that does not attract attention to itself and is therefore good or clever
