To complete this journal, please address each item. To receive full credit for this journal, you must respond to each item with at least one complete sentence (but for most, more than one sentence is preferable). All journal entries are intended to facilitate communication between the student and instructor and also increase reflection (aka “meta-cognition”) on the student’s part. Therefore, the more you put into each journal entry, the more you will get out of it.
Introduce yourself to the instructor. Include your preferred name and any other information you would like the instructor to know about you.
Give some details about this specific course. Why are you taking this class? Have you taken this class before? Do you feel prepared for this class?
What is your plan for being successful in the class? Think of things such as time management, making a schedule, setting aside quiet work time, having a back-up plan if technology doesn't work or you get stuck on a topic, etc. Write down the details of your success plan. We will revisit the plan in another journal.
Ask your questions. Now that you have completed the first couple of modules, do you have any lingering questions about the class? Such as questions about completing an assignment, CNM Learn, ConnectMath, grades, late policy, deadlines, exams, etc.
Optional: Feel free to include anything else you would like to discuss with the instructor. While you will receive a grade on this journal for addressing the above items in this journal, you may also use this journal to discuss anything else throughout the semester. Or if you prefer, you can communicate with the instructor via CNM Email.
