years ago as a child, in Russia with his family for work, Otabek snuck out and stumbled upon a street dance competition. there he sees a young blond boy with the eyes of a soldier, dancing ballet to win the competition. it inspires Otabek to switch from dancing for pleasure to dancing professionally, and years later he is a household name in the world of dance, choreographing and dancing for famous pop stars across the world. he never stops going to street dance competitions.
one night he watches a video that tons of his fans tagged him in. the figure is blurry but recognizable, and calls himself Yuri Plisetsky. he's choreographed and danced a ballet accompaniment to Otabek's most famous choreography. some scouring, and Otabek flies out to find Yuri. already half in love with him, Otabek offers to train Yuri in order to win the world of dance competition for a prize of USD$1,000,000. Yuri, who's by now a professional but not well-known ballerina, jumps at the chance to use his street-dancing talent and to work with Otabek, who's kind of an idol of his.
