Notes - notes.io

As a Student from Michaela Community School, I am used to a strict and studious atmosphere which has allowed me to have a better work ethic that I would usually have. Moreover, during my time in Michaela I took an interest in reading, becoming the #1 reader in my year, and when Accelerated Reader was introduced in year 9, I was awarded for reading 63 books in total throughout my academic year, and whilst this decreased in 2019 I still managed just under 50 books. In 2020 the Covid-19 Pandemic has stopped me from reading new books from libraries, but I have re-read many book series that I have read before, as well as more educational books to prepare me for A levels, such as Maths and Economics books.
In school I had a tendency to lose interest in subjects I was not good at, which resulted in me only passing in some subjects for a lot of my school career, but as preparation for GCSE's increased I began working harder and found a new interest in English, Religion and History. Whilst these subjects have been very interesting to me throughout year 10 and 11, which allowed me to begin increasing my average grade from 5s to 6s and 7s, I have always had an interest and natural talent for Maths and Science. I personally adore Maths and I looked forward to my lessons. Unfortunately, partly due to my own lazyness and partly because of changes in our teachers, I lost interest in Science, but I still find certain topics in Chemistry and Physics fascinating. In school I liked to try many different activities, such as debate and chess clubs, and while I naturally am uncomfortable speaking in public, I loved the time I spent during year 11 in our debating club "Club Controversy" which talked about many current world affairs, such as the killing of an Iranian and Iraqi general in January, presidency in the USA and other interesting topics. I loved my time at school, as my peers constantly challenged me in topics such as Maths, where multiple people in class always strived for #1, and whilst I was not always #1 I always tried to be on parr with the best in my class.
Outside of school, I did not join as many clubs as I could have, and I was only part of an explorer's club, which did not last long due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but nevertheless I enjoyed my time there hiking and map reading. Additionally, I have spent time at my mosque in Stanmore, helping with food drives and other activities. I have also throughout my life helped in my family business, which is a retail store, where during holidays and some weekends I would go there to help handle and sell products, and during the lockdown I have helped add our products to Ebay and package hundreds of products to be sent all over the UK.
While I have a tendency to lose interest in subjects I do not like, such as French, I like to find out more about the world and I make an effort to work hard in subjects I love.
